I have felt that people eventually reveal who they are…and online is of little difference.

yup, but im more fun in person. it’s not much you can do to show your personality online lol

    June 30, 2015
    1. Somnium

I disagree, I think your personality will shine depending on what you post online. You will b amaze how much you can tell about a person

      June 30, 2015
  5. fierylady

Basically, yes. Maybe harder to know in person. lol

    June 30, 2015
    1. Somnium

It is “safer” in here but some people are basically the same.

I mostly try to spend as little time as I can on any line. Witch in turn makes me feel outta line. I’m not all that big on all the stuff out there. I’m one of those hold outs who has no cell phone Dropped cable. Outside of this site I don’t use computer for anything important. Nothing financial at all. Chess and youtube and here. Just a glorifird video game kinda. Witch I gave up on at the Nintendo 64 level.

    June 30, 2015
    1. Somnium

I live online, don’t even have cable. I use my iphone online all the time, speak daily to friends on Skype, watch movies online, poetry and so much more. I think you are the same in here as you are in real life. I sensed that from the beginning I talked to you.

      June 30, 2015
      1. macabre360

One big difference though.. I’m not nearly as friendly on the outside as I am on the inside. I usually keep others a wings length away. I was never the clingy type. Which I could never figure out why so many seem to be toward me. Which gets on my nerves in a hurry. Which is evidenced by my low friend count here even. I think it safe to say it may be true that I’m way more open here than anywhere else.
But in truth by now so many have come and gone in my life. Outside of family I just feel we’re all just passing by for the moment.

        June 30, 2015
  7. wonderwall79

Yeah watch you see is what you get with me.
Perhaps more funny in real life but still whatever I say on line is what I’d say and do off line.
Perhaps tho this photo is slightly more flattering than the real me although it’s nearly identical

    June 30, 2015
    1. Somnium

we try to post best photos or hide our looks I think hiding a little on the physical allow us to be more open on the personality part

      June 30, 2015
  8. wonderwall79

    I couldn’t agree more

    June 30, 2015
  9. DeeinFL

Yes. How I am online, here, mail, Facebook…wherever…it’s how I am in real. I figure why act differently?!

    June 30, 2015
    1. Somnium

It seems easier that way, right?

      June 30, 2015
  10. scarletts_letters

Not at all, I don’t tend to talk about my inner thoughts much offline. I am less chatty and aggressive in traffic online – you should be thankful!

    June 30, 2015
    1. Somnium

I knew I was missing something good There is a part of you that shines through and I see it. It became my connection to you (that was serious talk)

      June 30, 2015
      1. scarletts_letters

I’m more pragmatic in my day to day, I was raised to be conservative and it rubbed off, this place gave me a platform to say what I really feel. Most of my friends have enough to cope with in life without me adding to it. Ty. There was a time when you left here, it was like the place had lost something intrinsic, humane, ethereal.

Everything is skewed without our consciousness.

    June 30, 2015
    1. Somnium

Sometimes I do feel more focused online than in real life. Does that means I am more conscious online?

      June 30, 2015
      1. redgeventuradelacruz

all of us are conscious. it only signifies that we are “thinking” see those stupid individuals who knows nothing but to babble? ask them if they kinda like thinking or not.

  15. belladora

I am actually a lot harsher online than I am in RL. When speaking to someone directly, it’s easier online to say what is on your mind. In RL, I do a lot of tip toes. Other than that little difference, I am who I am.

    June 30, 2015
    1. Somnium

I understand there are no lasting consequences in here to speak our minds and I for one tend to reveal more about myself here since there is that feeling of anonymity

      June 30, 2015
      1. belladora

Yes, that’s where I get my desire to say it like it is, anonymity.

    June 30, 2015
    1. Somnium

I always thought of you being talkative on and off line I think you are a good conversationist

      June 30, 2015
      1. tulakrystal

Thank you, but I’ve never been a talkative person. People usually tell me that I don’t talk enough in real life. I do find social situations to be somewhat tiring at times, but that’s not because I don’t like people. I just like to be left alone to write and think sometimes.

        June 30, 2015
  18. withwings

I’ve been curious about your answers you’d have here. I have a social media (sociology) course this summer and this was actually a question we were asked in class but it was separated with different criteria.
I would say the majority here has insisted that are one and the same. I think they are being quite honest. Most people who have an online life, feel very involved would put forth themselves as they see fit and feel comfortable. In general, the majority is who they feel they are each and every day, on and off line.
    .
I’ll answer for myself now. lol
I do believe if someone met me casually outside the internet they would not see me the same way had they met me first online where I have an online life and that’s only this site. I am very open here about feelings and things that have happened over my short lifetime to date. It makes me quite vulnerable. In actual life, no one really sees or hears any of that. I’ve been told I appear aloof or detached upon first impression and I don’t think people would necessarily state that I’m that way here. I’ve been told I’m friendly any way. haha.
But I would say, as with any of these people, I’m the same here as I am anywhere.
I think there is the illusion that people are different online but I attribute that to this is the only way we are left with communicating online, typing, and leaving out all other aspects, such as hearing, seeing and touching.

stop correcting yourself I get it

        June 30, 2015
    3. Somnium

I think who we are here is projected from how “we feel here” while in real life we don’t actually project our mind and feelings the same way until someone gets to know us better. I guess we have to define what “being us” really means. When I say I am the same online as I am in real life I am referring more about the way I feel and see things and not so much how I present myself in real life.

      June 30, 2015
      1. withwings

So you think that people in their real life might not speak their minds?

        June 30, 2015
        1. Somnium

Most people I know they don’t and I most times contain myself

          June 30, 2015
          1. withwings

Its interesting, because I;ve noticed with some questions I;ve asked here that with out defining things answers are very broadly suited to the question that I had in my own mind with my own meanings lol.
But i think that what you say is the nature of this way of life as well as incorporates what i said. We are often pressed or inspired to write out thoughts, ideas and feelings with different comfort level and freedom. We aren’t bound by impressions and judgements in the same manner because of how individual and free we can feel eliminating those factors i mentioned, such as feeling hearing touching.

I guess I don’t really know how I appear to people online. I am very selective about what I put on Facebook because I have a business and I have savvy kids in their late twenties, so I don’t want to embarrass myself or my kids with inappropriate attention. Here, I’ve been more relaxed about my postings and conversation because I keep my viewership to “friends only”. It gives me a little more control over who sees what I write. But, honestly, I don’t have a true grasp on what others think about me so I can’t tell you if that’s the real me or not.

  21. zilla007

actually I have no clue. If I had to meet anyone in real life prior to us having met here/online, I will most probably appear unfriendly or not the type of person any would want to be friends with.. Ive been told that I am tooooo stubborn/anti social/private/ indifferent towards being social, yet these very people who say these things have had them as first impressions and are now very close friends. Here I write about me, my thoughts, my feelings, about all my experiences and life. I find writing easier than talking because I don’t like m voice. I cant tell you how I appear off line or here online because I haven’t sat back and wondered if I am the same because I never thought of myself as being different. I am still moody, annoying, speak when I have time, loving and full of just being me, I am more open out of the social limelight these days, you guys get to see my raw emotional self now offline instead of me writing about much………….argghhhh I need to figure out how I appear now gggggggrrrrr
